Motu Piti Aau: Private Island Weddings in Bora Bora

An enchanting private motu in the Bora Bora lagoon

Our most popular venue for a wedding or vow renewal

The motu includes Point Faroone. In Tahitian, faroone means “bend in the sand”, and piti aau means “twice the sentiment, twice the emotion, twice the giving”. It is hard to imagine a better name for a place to marry.

Why couples choose the motu

The motu has it all – a sensational beach, the most stunning lagoon, the breathtaking backdrop of Bora Bora’s mountain-line including the mythical Mt Otemanu, sweeping views across to Raiatea & Tahaa. This is a private island (motu). You are not just being located on another stretch of your resort.

Upon your arrival on the motu you will be greeted by the Tahua (Tahitian priest) & welcomed with traditional music.

☆ Arrival by boat.  A private boat, decorated for the occasion, takes you and your guests from your resort across the lagoon.

☆ A private island.  While not fully privatized, the motu is a private island, not a corner of a resort.

☆ The setting.  White sand, swaying palms, the sound of the ocean and, in the distance, the coral reef that protects the lagoon.

☆ The view.  Mt Otemanu rises in the mountain line behind you, and you can see across to Raiatea and Tahaa.

☆ Your welcome.  The tahua greets you and your guests, and traditional music welcomes you.

☆ Shelter and comfort.  Thatched-roof timber structures in local style give shelter if the weather turns. Restrooms are on site.

☆ Protected from the wind.  The beach and ceremony area are sheltered from the southerly Maraamu winds that blow all year, especially in high season.

☆ The best time of day.  We recommend a morning ceremony for the best light and the clearest view of Mt Otemanu. Most couples stay for lunch. There is time for photos and snorkeling, and some add a short excursion to a shark spot.

☆ Ceremonies we hold here.  Traditional Tahitian weddings and traditional vow renewals.

☆ Make a day out of it, lunch optional as well as snorkeling in the afternoon

If you are looking to celebrate your marriage in a Traditional Tahitian Wedding or a Traditional Renewal of Vows Ceremony, if you want to seal your commitment to a life-long love in the world’s most stunning & romantic setting then the “The Motu” is for you.
